Drug Prevention Awareness at Mahinda National College

Responding to an invitation from Mahinda National College, Kuliyapitiya – Nakkawatta, YAN Sri Lanka successfully conducted a Drug Prevention Awareness Programme for Grade 9 students.

The programme aimed to provide students with accurate, evidence-based knowledge about alcohol and other drugs while encouraging them to think critically about the influences that shape their decisions. Interactive

discussions focused on common misconceptions surrounding substance use and the marketing strategies employed by alcohol and tobacco industries to normalize and promote their products.

By creating an open and engaging learning environment, participants were encouraged to question misleading information, make informed decisions, and understand the importance of leading healthy, drug-free lives.

Through initiatives like this, YAN Sri Lanka remains committed to empowering young people with the knowledge and life skills needed to resist harmful influences and become responsible leaders within their schools and communities.
