Empowering Youth in Maha Oya

YAN Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Maha Oya Divisional Secretariat, successfully conducted a series of youth empowerment programmes aimed at strengthening youth leadership and promoting healthier, safer communities.

The programmes focused on drug prevention, increasing awareness of alcohol and tobacco industry interference, and encouraging young people to recognize these challenges and take collective action. Through interactive discussions and engaging activities, participants gained valuable knowledge on protecting themselves and their communities from the harmful influence of these industries.

The sessions were facilitated by the YAN Sri Lanka Management Team, Co-Founders, and Monaragala District Directors, who shared their expertise and inspired participants to become active leaders and advocates for positive social change.

This initiative reflects YAN Sri Lanka’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to create meaningful change. By working together with local stakeholders, we continue to build a generation of informed, responsible, and resilient youth who are ready to stand for freedom, happiness, and a healthier future for Sri Lanka.
