Celebrating the true spirit of Pongal with unity, gratitude, and joy

On *17th January 2026, **Youth Action Network (YAN) Sri Lanka* had the privilege of celebrating the vibrant festival of *Pongal* together with the *Soranawaththa Y HUB*, creating a memorable day filled with culture, unity, and friendship.

The morning began with a traditional Pongal celebration that highlighted the rich cultural heritage and values behind this meaningful harvest festival. Young people from both organizations came together to prepare and share traditional festivities, strengthening bonds while expressing gratitude for nature’s blessings, prosperity, and the spirit of togetherness. The celebration served as a beautiful reminder that diversity enriches our communities and that cultural appreciation brings people closer together.

As the day continued, the celebration moved from cultural traditions to the cricket field. In the afternoon, members of Youth Action Network and Soranawaththa Y HUB enjoyed a friendly cricket match that brought excitement, teamwork, and laughter to everyone involved. More than just a game, the match promoted friendship, mutual respect, healthy competition, and youth engagement through sports.

This wonderful collaboration reflected the shared commitment of both organizations to creating opportunities for young people to connect beyond differences, celebrate one another’s cultures, and build lasting relationships through meaningful experiences.

Youth Action Network extends its sincere appreciation to the *Soranawaththa Y HUB* for their warm hospitality, enthusiastic participation, and partnership in making this event a great success. Together, we celebrated not only the spirit of Pongal but also the values of unity, inclusion, and community that continue to inspire positive change among young people.

May the blessings of Pongal bring prosperity, harmony, happiness, and hope to everyone. We look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate, learn, and grow together.
