Leadership and Drug Prevention Program Empowers 80 Students at Balangoda Mäddekanda Maha Vidyalaya

On May 14, 2025, a special Leadership and Drug Prevention Program was successfully held at Balangoda Mäddekanda Maha Vidyalaya, engaging 80 enthusiastic students in a day of awareness, learning, and personal development.

The program focused on educating students about the harmful impact of substances such as alcohol and tobacco, particularly how they pose a barrier to happiness, freedom, and personal growth. Students were also introduced to the manipulative marketing strategies used by certain companies to promote these harmful products, helping them recognize and critically evaluate false narratives and peer pressure.

Through a series of interactive sessions and hands-on activities, the event encouraged participants to strengthen their leadership skills, boost self-confidence, and embrace their potential as change-makers. Discussions highlighted the value of leading by example, making informed choices, and inspiring others in their communities.

This initiative not only raised awareness on drug prevention but also empowered students with the tools and mindset necessary to lead healthier, purpose-driven lives.
